Our special services are typically held during certain parts of the liturgical year. We have special services every year on Christmas Eve, Ash Wednesday, and Maundy Thursday, to mention a few. Details for these services and other special services we have throughout the year can be found here as we get closer to them.
Ash Wednesday is the first day of Lent, the season of preparation for the resurrection of Jesus Christ on Easter Sunday. Ash Wednesday falls 46 days before Easter. Worship with us on Ash Wednesday as we enter into this holy season.
Palm Sunday, the final Sunday before Easter Sunday. It marks the beginning of Holy Week. Christian churches distribute palms on Palm Sunday to commemorate Christ’s triumphal entrance into Jerusalem, when palm branches were placed in His path, before His arrest and Crucifixion on Good Friday. Worship with us as we begin Holy Week.
Maundy Thursday or Holy Thursday is the day when we remember the Last Supper of our Lord Jesus Christ. Our service is always the Thursday before Easter Sunday.
Easter is a day of celebration when Christ rose from the dead. Through his death, Christ saved us from our sin. His resurrection that gives us the promise of new life, both in this world and the next. Deer Park celebrates The Risen Savior by the “Blossoming of the Cross”.
All Saints Day All living Christian and those who have passed from this life are Saints. On this day we remember not only the living Saints, but also remember all those who have died who were members of the Deer Park congregation. A candle is lit as each person’s name is called. Prayers and responsive readings accompany the service. At Deer Park we celebrate all of the saints the first Sunday after November 1st.
Hanging of the Green A Service for the Hanging of the Christmas Green is where Deer Park begins the Advent season and the preparation of Christmas Day. Among ancient Romans evergreens were an emblem of peace and joy. During the service, the congregation decorates the sanctuary with Christian symbols.
