Senior Pastor Dr. David Platt is a native of Connecticut. His ministry includes serving as pastor of churches in Massachusetts, New Jersey, Texas, Indiana and Kentucky. He is a graduate of University of Miami and Southern Baptist Theological Seminary. He and his wife, Pat, have four children and seven grandchildren. David has been pastor of Deer Park since 2001.

Ronald Turner, BA, MM, DMA Minister of Music & Worship Dr. Ron Turner first came to Deer Park as Minister of Music in 1973, and served until 1993. Following a sabbatical as Visiting Scholar in Church Music at St. Paul’s Cathedral in London, he left Deer Park to serve at First Lutheran Church of Louisville for a decade, but by the grace of God felt a call to return to Deer Park in 2004 as Minister of Music & Worship. Ron’s greatest joy is to plan worship, trying the best he can to match the spoken work (scriptures and Dr. Platt’s sermon) with appropriate congregational, choral, and instrumental music—to create an organic whole in worship with an openness to a wide variety of musical styles and hymnody. Also important is his responsibility to oversee and conduct most of the music of Deer Park, including the Chancel Choir, the Deer Park Strings. He also assists with the Kids Choir. Ron is also a composer, who frequently composes hymns and anthems for use in Deer Park’s services.

Sandra Turner, BA, MM, MCM, DMA, ARCMKeyboard MinisterDr. Sandra Turner first served Deer Park as organist beginning in 1974. Except for a five-year period in which she was Organist for Broadway Baptist Church, she has been Deer Park’s “Minister of Keyboards” ever since, often playing organ, piano, and harpsichord in a single service. She also has served as Professor of Church Music and Chair of Keyboard studies at Southern Seminary, where she serves as Seminary Organist, piano and organ professor, . She holds degrees from Charleston Southern University, Converse College, Southern Seminary, and The Royal College of Music in London, England, but most of all she is known as a consummate service player who devotes heart, soul, and energy to making Deer Park’s worship flow as perfectly as music has the capability to do.
